BBC Studios Factual Entertainment and Events, Popular Factual and Kids & Family are looking to hear from Runners based in Manchester/Salford to join our BBC Studios Runner Talent Pool.
Joining our pool of successful candidates will enable you to be offered work as and when opportunities arise during peak periods.
The Runner role provides support to production/department teams in the office, on location and in studio by performing a number of production related supportive tasks and activities.
Role Responsibility
As a Runner, you’ll have a wide range of responsibilities depending on which project you are working on. They can include:
- Supporting the productions team in the office, out on location and in the Studio
- Acting as a point of contact for both internal and external contacts whilst always maintaining a positive image of BBC Studios.
- Undertaking general office duties including collecting tapes and kit, logging material, photocopying, answering telephones, scanning documents and filing
- Acting as a courier, ensuring people have the right resources at the right time and distributing important paperwork
- Assisting with members of the public, contributor and on-screen talent when on set or location
Are you the right candidate?
We are looking for people who have a clear passion and a motivation to work in TV, and specifically the BBC Studios Salford areas. A great Runner will work flexibly and provide valuable support to the production team. The ability to manage your time well and use your initiative to support the ever-changing needs of the production is essential in this role. You will be working within busy teams with a range of individuals so maintaining clear and consistent communication is key.
- Demonstrable interest in the media. Particular knowledge of TV production and the types of network programming made by BBC Studios, Salford departments.
- Strong time management & organisational skills and the ability to identify priorities and to work to tight deadlines.
- The ability to establish effective working relationships quickly with all of the department’s staff, and work effectively and efficiently as part of a team.
- Competent phone manner and the ability to use initiative when speaking with business organisations and entrepreneurs.
- An understanding and ability to handle confidential information with tact and sensitivity.
- Driving licence is desirable but not a deal breaker.
